Easter

We had a fantastic Easter weekend. Joe got Good Friday off, one of the perks of living in the south is that you get Good Friday off. We went up to our lake house on Thursday night and stayed until Saturday night. It was perfect weather the whole time.

I picked out everyone's clothes for Sunday. They all humored me, even Joe, who wondered why I had picked out his clothes. I even had a light blue suit I hadn't worn in a couple of years to wear.

Instead of attending a neighborhood Easter egg hunt, the kids made their own. I gave them a bag of plastic eggs and a few bags of candy and they filled them and hid them themselves. Then they lined up and ran and got them.

When they were done, they did it again.

They did that for two days straight. By the second time on the second day, Nate didn't even bother to get the candy out of his eggs, he had had enough!

The rest of the weekend was fun, the kids rode their 4-wheelers and went swimming in the lake. Austin and Koni came up and spent the night one night so the kids got to play with their cousins. Joe put in a new front door, sprinklers and I painted all the trim from the past three or four projects.

We also saw a turtle laying eggs under one of the trees.

When it was done, it buried the eggs and went back down to the lake and crawled in.

In Honor of Earth Day

...we planted three red maples at our property.

Really, we just wanted nice trees to grow up where Joe had recently buired a couple of pipes and the forest was clearly destroyed.

Apparently, it was dangerous work, but luckily Ellie had her helmet on so she was safe.

The next day I was looking through Adam's scout book and I saw that one of his requirements is to plant a tree. Darn-it. He'll have to help next time.

Buried Alive

Put two boys and a sandbox together and they are going to get creative.

Michael's Hole in his Head

Michael just lost one of his front teeth. It is always such drama when it comes to Michael and loose teeth. This one has been loose for at least 6 months. He wouldn't touch it so it never came out. Lately, we noticed that the hole for the tooth has dramatically been getting bigger- his mouth is making room for a big ole tooth to come in. The last few days, Joe has been working on loosening it and he got it out finally. Now the hole is so big it looks like he lost two teeth, someone even asked him if he had! That other tooth is pretty loose too, I wonder what it will look like when it is gone.

Playing in the River

Over Spring Break we went to the nearby river. There is a beach along it that you can walk to from the back of some houses in our neighborhood. Unfortunately it took us a little while to find the path, but eventually we did find it. It was a little cold outside so we thought the kids might get their feet wet and that is it. They really wanted to get fully wet, so they jumped in.

Soon they had shirts and some even had shorts off. It was a good thing they were almost all boys.
Here they are making sand angels. You would think the kids had never seen sand before- oh to be young again.

Tammy's Visit

My sister came over Spring Break and stayed 10 days. While she was here, we went down to theSpace Center. The boys really enjoyed the rockets, and also the big indoor playground. It was fun because we went with Adam's best friend and his grandma. His grandpa had helped build the Saturn V and this woman had been involved in the development of the Space Center, so it was fun to get all the inside scoop on what we saw.

We also went down to the nearby river to swim and tried to get outside as much as possible. It was a great week.

Close Ups

My sister recently took close up pictures of the kids...aren't they cute?
