Nate's tackle football

Nate had his first season of tackle football this fall. They started conditioning in July at night servers days a week and then practice three times a week in August. Finally at the end of August they started games which were every Saturday.  Finally, a few week into November, the season ended. The Oak Ridge Saints had a fantastic season. They only lost one game in regular season play, and then they lost their second playoff game.  Nate learned so much about football. Most of the time he played in the defensive line, although a few times he was also on the offensive line. The league was well organized and the kids learned a ton.

Four wheeling

We had lots of fun four wheeling at the cabin. Adam and Michael are old enough and big enough to drive their own four wheelers.
We went on a long ride to Pike’s Peak where we could see super far in three directions. It was a fun hike!


When Joe was there, we went on a ride to Hatch to eat lunch, and then on the way home we drove past a defunct volcano.  The kids decided to climb to the top to see what they could see.  They got up it quickly and then we watched in frustration because we had no way to communicate with them to tell them to come back do we could go!

Brianhead Hike

One day at the cabin, we took a nice hike near Brianhead. There was a pretty little pond at the end of the hike.

Fishing at Panguitch Lake

One of Nate and Adam’s favorite things to do at the cabin is to go fishing. Adam can bait and cast his own hooks. Nate can almost do it himself as well. They could spend hours out there just fishing and enjoying themselves.
Michael likes to go and read on the boat. Ellie doesn’t much like to go, but if she does go, she likes to mess around and be silly, which isn’t as good for being quiet and catching fish.
At the beginning of our vacation, Clell was there and he went fishing with us. At the end, Joe came out and he went fishing with us. It was nice.

Halloween

Now that the kids are older, Halloween is a little bit less of an event than it used to be. This year right before Halloween, a cool front moved in and we had unseasonably cold weather for a few days. Halloween itself was rainy as well.
Nate was a skeleton zombie...

When it was time to pick out and carve pumpkins, Nate was the only one interested in doing it. He drew his own face and carved it by himself.

I was a pirate.

Adam was Dwight Schrute from the TV show “The Office,” Michael was a boy riding an ostrich, and Ellie wore a cow onesie.

Ellie and her gymnastics friends got matching cow onsies. They all went trick or treating together, it was a riot.

Mesa Verde

Ever since I knew it existed, I have really wanted to go to Mesa Verde National Park. It is a party where there are thousand of Indian dwellings built into the side of the mountains. It is such a cool place.
We went and got to go on a tour of the balcony house. It is called the balcony house because there is a balcony over part of the house that has the original wood and plaster from when it was first built in about 1190 AD.
