Oh, and the previous tenants were white and made all of the stereotypes of rural texas you have ever heard ring true.

White Trash (Literally)
We recently purchased the lot next to our other lots up at our property. This new property has a small, old one bedroom house on it. When we purchased the property, there were renters in it. We decided to leave them in it because they were paying rent and we had plenty of other things to do before we tackled fixing up the house. After not paying rent and sundry other excuses, the renters finally "moved" out. Unfortunately, this is rural Texas and so they had collected quite a large amount of trash while they lived in the house (for only 3 years). They sadly, did not move their trash with them. We spent yesterday cleaning out the house and the yard of all the leftover trash.
We ended up filling up Joe's truck and his 16' trailer with the trash. In addition, we had a substanstial burn pile (see above). It was a lot of dirty work. I kept thinking of youth conference service projects, but this time the service project was for us. By the time we were done we were all so filthy.
You would think that with all of that trash, there might be something that we would find that we would want to use. To the contrary... all we found were 5 cans of food, some ice cube trays and a swing we could put new seat covers on. (They were smokers and not clean people). There were 7-8 TVs that were in states of disrepair, 4 of which were outside in the rain for an indeterminate amount of time. There were also 3 computer monitors, two rotting couches...and well, you get the idea. Now, we have to go dump all of this at the dump, which project we have saved for another day.
When we got back home, Joe went to our friends in the neighborhood and they were all generous enough to let us put a bag of trash each into their Republic Waste issued trash cans, so he was able to empty out his truck. (Thanks everyone). Sometime soon I will post pictures of the house and the now empty inside. We have a lot of work to do inside, but it is nice to have all of the trash gone for now. Oh, and the water works so we can use the toilet....but I do have to go scrub the bathroom, which is another day's work.

Good thing the trash is getting picked up tomorrow- we've got a nice aroma in the garage from all of the "white trash." Ha, ha...
