Color Me Rad

In January, we took the boys out of Jiu-jitsu.  We then had to find a new sport for them. Adam was already doing tennis, and Nate thought he would like to try flag football, but Mike was a little more tricky because he knew he didn't like team sports and he didn't love tennis either.  I normally go running a few mornings a week before the kids get up, so I asked him if he would like to get up early and go running with me one day a week.  We have been doing that since sometime in February.  The goal is for him to have a good time and not stress about it.  We walk/run about 3 miles, and do pretty well.  Michael has these amazingly strong legs, and if he can learn to enjoy running, he could really be good at some of the track and field events.

To add some spice to our running, we decided to do a 5K called the Color Me Rad run.  It was in a parking lot of a race track nearby.  Periodically throughout the event, they would spray or throw colored cornstarch or dye on us.  By the end we were pretty well covered.  At the very end of the race, they were handing out little packets of the colored cornstarch.  Mike had fun dumping them all over us.  He then found a stash of more packets and dumped them all over and around us.

There was so much dye in some places that there were clouds of it that you walked or ran through. Awesome!
Some of our friends whose daughter is on Ellie's gymnastics team also went on the race.  It was fun to see friends.

Check out the amount of blue dye in this kids hair!
