Washington, D.C.

This summer, we took a super long road trip.  It ended up being 6300 miles, and we traveled through 24 states.  I am going to start the epic project of documenting the trip.  Our first official stop was Washington, D.C.  We got there on Tuesday afternoon, and immediately went to see all the monuments.  This post is picture intensive, but these posts are how things get in the kids memory books, so I am putting them all in.

The Washington monument (above) and the World War II memorial (below).
 The Lincoln memorial.

We saw the Korean war memorial (not pictured) and then the Vietnam memorial.
After that, we were all exhausted and super hot.  We kept hearing that Washington was having record heat, and it sure felt like it!  We stayed in a hotel in Baltimore, so we went there for the night and went swimming to cool off.
The next morning, we thought we would check out the Subway.  Word to the wise- its very expensive to ride from Baltimore to the mall on the Subway for 5 people.  In D.C., the subway fare is based on distance, so you pay more to go farther.  The kids thought the subway was really cool and they thought it was fun to "surf" on the subway. The people around us didn't think it was very cute.
While in D.C. that day, we saw the White House (front and back), had a tour of the bureau of engraving and imprinting and toured the Smithsonian air and space museum.  We walked everywhere, and were super exhausted by the time we were done.

Adam ran into his best friends at the Air and Space museum.  They were so excited to be able to see each other for a few minutes in the middle of their trips.

We originally had planned to spend another day in D.C., but the kids were ready to go to New York, so we went there next.
