We did several fun things for Christmas! First we all went to the giving machines and bought some charity things.
Then we went on our annual Walmart shopping extravaganza! Michael was off in Austin at an internship so he got to participate via facetime.
Then we had our Christmas eve dinner and nativity. I bought some fun beards for the nativity this year.
Then the kids got some Christmas jammies.
Macy came over first thing on Christmas morning to open stockings with us.
That evening, we flew to Miami to go on a cruise together.
We cruised to a private island and then to the Bahamas. All was going well until Macy got deathly ill partway through the cruise. She was taken to the medical center on the ship and we had to decide if we were going to take her to a hospital in the Bahamas, or keep her in the infirmary until we returned to Miami. The dr seemed to think that Macy had sepsis and she was really struggling to drink any water or keep any food down. Adam stayed with her when we got to the Bahamas, but we decided to get off and go see the island a little bit. Ellie and Nate went parasailing. We also all piled into a too small cab and got pulled over by the police. We made it back on the ship ok, but our experiences on the island were a bit sketchy. We decided to keep Macy on board until we got back to Miami.
When we returned to Miami, they evacuated Macy in an ambulance to a local hospital. Beca met us there. They checked her out, determined that she was severely dehydrated, probably not septic, but she needed some rest and released her to return home that night. It was more of an ordeal than we wanted or expected, but we were overall really glad that Macy was ok.
