Egypt

Joe has a plan to take each of the kids on an individual trip when they are in their pre-teens.  It took a little longer to plan it with Ellie because she was so busy and then covid stopped all travel.  They spent a long time trying to figure out where they wanted to go, and finally settled on Egypt. They went during the week of Thanksgiving.  The first stop they went to was the pyramids.  They had a guide named Mohammed that helped them.  They thought it was crazy that they could walk right up to the pyramids and climb them.

One day they road on a boat to the Philae island where they moved Philae Temple. They got to walk inside.  It used to be underwater and you could see the places that the water had reached to.

Another day they took another boat ride, this time on the Nile to the Nubian Village, where the population was mostly black.  They had colorful houses and camels were walking around everywhere.  They got to drink homemade Egyptian tea, and hold a baby crocodile.

They went on a Nile Cruise for 2 days and visited the Abu Simbel temple.  They also visited the city of Luxor

They visited the Kamak temple.

Right before they left, they went on a carriage tour of Luxor. The guide was so funny, he let Ellie sit up front with him and was screaming the whole time.
