In the fall of 2022, Joe picked out several straws of bull semen and attempted to have all of his cows inseminated. Only one of them took. He decided at the end of the year to just do it the old fashioned way and he bought a strong bull. He kept him with the herd so that the females would get pregnant.
In the spring, he became frustrated because his cows kept getting out of their pens and they weren't thriving like he thought they would. It was taking more time than he could spend on them and he wasn't giving them the attention they needed. He decided that he was going to sell his herd. He ended up having someone come and buy all of his cows. It was a sad day for him, but he knew that it wasn't working for him the way that he wanted it to.
