Out of the blue in May of his junior year, Nate suddenly started talking about joining band again. He knew there was going to be an opening on the drum line and he felt confident that he could make it. He tried out and made it. Then the practicing began. Their first performance was in the 4th of July parade in the woodlands. It was pretty hot.

Once summer band really started, it was a little harder for Nate to be as excited about it. He kept saying- why did you make me do this? I reminded him that I told him to think long and hard before he joined and maybe think about not joining. Nevertheless, he worked hard and went to all the activities. By joining band, he made sure that he had a full senior year. He went to all the football games, all the pep rallies and quite a few other events that needed the drumline.
After marching season was over, it was time to start concert season. Nate quickly decided that he was done with band. He begged and pleaded and talked to his counselor and quit band. He spent the second semester during that time being a lab aide. Most of the time as a lab aide he spent sleeping, but he preferred that to concert band.
