For Spring Break, we decided to visit Adam and Macy in Chicago. Adam was working as an assistant trader for a chocolate company- Blommer. For his birthday in February, he was given this 10 pound chunk of chocolate. We thought it would be fun to visit them and be tourists in Chicago. We also were going to be there on St. Patricks day so we could see the Chicago river when they turned it green.
The first thing we did while we were visiting was to go the the Museum of Science and Industry. It was such a large museum- it has a train, a German U-boat and a plane all inside it. We saw several of the exhibits and got a tour of the U-boat. Adam met us there after work for that day. Then we went to University of Chicago to see Macy's law school. It just so happened to be her last day of finals, so we walked around a little until she was done with finals and she could give us a tour of the campus. The campus was especially beautiful with all the large old buildings and architecture.
We went to Giordanos for dinner. The next day we walked around the city in the morning, trying out some donuts and going to the Lego store in the city place mall. It was unseasonably cold so we wanted to be inside as much as possible. Then we went on an architecture boat tour on the river that was bright green for St. Patrick's Day.
On Sunday, we went to their ward, the Hyde Park 2nd ward. It was very different than our Spring Trails Ward as there was a lot more diversity in the members. Later we went for a walk and saw a movie.
We went home that afternoon. It was very nice to see them and see what their life is like in Chicago.
This is the view from their living room window. There is a great view of Grant Park and Lake Michigan.
On Monday morning, we went to the Chicago Institute of Art. There are a lot of famous paintings there and it is a huge museum. It's fun to see all of the paintings in real life.
