For Spring Break, we went on a 7 day cruise. We left out of Puerto Rico. Since we had never been to Puerto Rico, we decided to come in a day early so that we could explore it a little bit. We had a flight that flew overnight and we got there early in the morning. We went to a nice breakfast, then went and walked around the beach for a while. We were exhausted, so we went to our hotel and hung out in the lobby until they gave us a room. We rested for a while and then went to the best dinner ever. The next day, we explored the island some more and then we went got on the boat. We were a little nervous about them letting us on because Covid-19 was just starting to spread rapidly. We passed all the questions and were able to get on.
The day after we got on the boat, the CDC recommended that people not take cruises anymore. Joe started worrying about all of his investments. We did get to stop at our first few destinations. Our first destination was Barbados. We snorkeled with turtles and snorkeled with a shipwreck. The beach was absolutely beautiful. We also went to St. Geroges, Grenada where we saw several waterfalls and went to an allspice factory. The island was beautiful. In Dominica we went on a long drive through the island and then tubed through a river. The river was lower than it usually is, so we got stuck a few times. It was very pretty. Things started to get a little crazy then. They started closing ports. We couldn't get into our next port so the captain tried to get into another port, but they also denied us entrance. We had a day at sea. Meanwhile we were afraid that someone on our boat secretly had coronavirus and we were going to be stuck on the boat and have to quarantine on the boat for several weeks. We were finally allowed to get into port at the U.S. Virgin Islands. We got special permission to leave the boat early and changed our flight so we wouldn't get stuck on the boat after that. We had to carry our luggage out with us, so we ditched a bag and several items of clothing on the ship. We also left our large hand sanitizer, which ended up being a big deal when we got back home and they were all gone. On the virgin islands, we went to a beach resort and swam in the ocean for the day, and then our driver drove us back to the airport. It was a little touch and go at the airport because we weren't sure that they were going to let us get on a plane, but they did, and we were able to make our connections in Atlanta and get home a day early. Then the craziness of Covid-19 really hit.
