Floating the Guadalupe and Blue Hole

One of the last weekends before school started, we were able to arrange everyone's schedules so that we could get away for a weekend.  We went out to hill country and stayed at one of Joe's colleague's houses and tried some different adventures.  The first was to float the Guadalupe River.  Everyone always raved about how fun it was to float the Guadalupe River.  One of the nice things of this river is that it isn't too deep and the water is cool, even in the summer.  There is a horseshoe loop that you can get in and float and it takes about 2 hours to float.  We were excited to try it.  There were a couple of things we didn't expect- first- there were so many people.  When you get in there is barely enough room to put your tube in because there are so many people on their tubes floating the river.  Second, the river flows so so so slow.  It is crazy how slow it moves.  We put our tubes in and after 15 minutes we could barely tell we had moved at all.  That's ok, it was a fun adventure, one that we probably won't be doing again.

There is another recreation area near that area that is called Blue Hole.  It has a natural pond area of a river that is refreshingly cold with a couple of tree swings and a park near it.  We went there and went swimming for a while.  I think the water was a little too cold for my liking though.
