Girls Camp

This was Ellie's first year at girl's camp.  She was so unhappy last year when she was too young to go, and so she was super excited that she finally got to go this year.  Girl's camp was the very first few days after school got out and we went to a Jewish camp that is near San Antonio.  Ellie had a group of 3 other girls that she hung out with the most- Darby, Ava and Natalie.  Unfortunately, they were all second years and she was a lonely first year.

The girls did a service project that was to make super soft yarn wigs for children who are going through chemotherapy.   They made the wigs to look like characters from Disney movies so that they would be fun for the girls to wear when their hair fell out from their treatment.

This is Ava.  They really look a lot alike, and people sometimes get them mixed up.  Its funny and cute.

One of the funnest things at this camp was a ropes course that they had .  We were supposed to be able to have two days to do the ropes course, but there was a scheduling conflict somewhere and the ropes course instructors were not available one day so the girls had to all scramble to get it all in on one day.

It was pretty high up where they had to climb for the course.

I got to be the Stake Camp Assistant Director.  It was especially fun because I got to hang out with these ladies all week. 

Leilani Margraff on the left was also a stake assistant camp director and Nikki Miller was the stake camp director.  It was a pretty simple job- Nikki did most of the planning and a lot of time was spent being a go-for for the things that needed doing at the camp.

It was hot, but I really really enjoy girls camp because it is so fun to get away from it all and to hang out with such neat women and get to know the girls so much better.
