With Covid-19, we saw a lot of changes for how things normally happened. When they created the vaccine, they created it in a few days and then pushed it through trials and emergency use authorization as fast as they could, which was years faster than previous vaccines. Then, once they got authorization, and enough vaccine was being manufactured to get to anyone that wanted it, they set up drive through vaccination sites. At first you needed an appointment to get a vaccine at the sites, then later you just needed to show up. Our closest drive through site was at the school district football stadium. You drove in, they gave you some paperwork which you filled out in your car. Then you drove up to a stop where they took your paperwork and entered your information into a computer. Then you drove forward to an area where they gave you your vaccine. At the same time, they wrote the time on your windshield. You pulled forward a little bit and then sat in your car until 15-20 minutes after your injection, at which point you could leave. They had signs if you were feeling any adverse reactions to beep your horn and there was emergency medical staff on hand to help. You then went back in 3 weeks to repeat the process for your second dose. It was all a little surreal.
