While football season for cheer was mandatory, basketball season was optional. The cheer class was in place of PE class, but it only went through first semester and then after that all of the cheer girls moved into the mainstream PE class. Basketball season started in November and went until January, so there were several games where they were cheering without practices in school beforehand. Since the games were optional, they often didn't have their whole stunt groups so they weren't able to do stunting at games. It was still fun for her to go and support her teams and hang out with her cheer friends.
